Mid April, stinking weather, stinking waves and a really great Mum. That was all that Marci and Jack required to blag there mothers into sending them on a surf trip to Portugal in April earlier this year. Peniche Surf Camp was the destination, and with the swell pulling reef set ups, the boyz were foaming at the mouth to get out there after our Baltic winter of pap! So this is it, Marci and Jack unleashed on Europe, what could go
wrong!?! Beach Beat rider and St Ives ripper Dane Hall and his father, Duncan, were also cruising in that direction as well.
The trip didn't start off as smoothly as they wanted, nearly missing the flight sounded interesting, Mary driving down one way systems, bringing up the comment 'well If this is that start of the holiday then the rest should be a breeze' from Jack.
Anyway they got there fine in the end, had a blast, great waves, many bottles of Sagres with a few bottles of Super Bock thrown into the mixer, a classic birthday lash up for the owner of the surf camp, even got up graded from a crappy room (that Groms should have to put up with and shut up) into a much nicer room (which undoubtedly wasn't nice after about 5 minutes).
Marci was riding his new 5'10" x 18 3/16" x 2 1/8" Summer Sting... and the feed back... 'fastest small wave board had!, goes like snot dude!'
Dane was riding his new 5'11"x 18" x 2 1/6" Thruster... feedback... 'I love this shape... I just want to touch it'
Jack was carving Portugal on his 7'0" x 20 1/2 x 2 ¾" single fin... feedback... 'dude... soul arch... uh huh...'
